FRANCO
AMERICAN CULTURAL FUND
The
Franco-American Cultural Fund (FACF)
celebrates COL-COA's anniversary,
marking a decade of bringing the best of French
film to Los Angeles.
THE MISSION OF COL-COA AND FACF
FACF and COL-COA are committed to showcasing our
most gifted filmmakers from the United States and
France and strengthening the cultural exchange
between our two nations through the magic of film.
ABOUT THE FACF
In March 1996, SACEM (France’s Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music) signed
an agreement with the American guilds representing creators in film and
television, the Directors
Guild of America (DGA) and the Writers
Guild of America (WGA),
joined by the Motion
Picture Association of America (MPAA);
They entered into a partnership with the goal of creating a common Cultural
Fund to be used in promoting and teaching the art of filmmaking.
The result of the partnership is the Franco-American Cultural Fund.
In both the US and France, the fund sponsors an original program, featuring
comprehensive artistic and educational assistance for cultural projects,
which includes professional advice and financial aid. Financed with Private
Copy levy funds, this scheme was designed to promote film creativity
on both sides of the Atlantic, to encourage budding talents and to foster
a dialogue between professionals.
