WANDERING STREAMS
A jovial tale about dormant libidos and new beginnings, WANDERING STREAMS is an adaptation of Pascal Rabaté’s eponymous comic book. It follows the adventures of Émile, played by madcap comic actor Daniel Prévost (“Little Nicholas,” “The Dinner Game,” “Colonel Chabert”). A retired widower, Émile spends most of his days fishing on the Loire River with his pal Edmond (Philippe Nahon, "Irreversible," "I Stand Alone,"). One day, Edmond reveals that he has a very active, fulfilling sex life and soon after, dies of a heart attack. The sudden loss of his best friend is like an electroshock for Émile, who wakes up from his sedate existence and finds a new appetite for life. Feeling like an adolescent all over again, he starts to think it isn’t too late to find love.

OUR DAY WILL COME

Deliberately blurring the line between good and evil, OUR DAY WILL COME is a surreal, provocative road movie starring Vincent Cassel (“Black Swan,” “Mesrine“ [COLCOA 2009], “Ocean’s Thirteen”) and Eric Barthélémy (“The Burma Conspiracy,” “Sheitan”). Bullied by his family and his classmates, Rémy (Barthélémy) is an awkward youth, who believes he is persecuted for his red hair. He runs away from home and meets Patrick (Cassel), a cynical psychotherapist whom he identifies as a fellow redhead. Patrick’s nihilism and taste for the extreme unlocks Rémy’s contained rage and, from insecure social outcast, Rémy turns into a violent fanatic. Like a modern Don Quixote, Rémy convinces Patrick that they will only find peace in the redheads’ motherland, and together they embark on a frenetic quest for their El Dorado.

MAMMUTH
Serge Pilardosse (Gérard Depardieu) is a recently retired slaughterhouse worker who finds out that six of his former employers failed to report his earnings, making it impossible for him to claim a full pension. Berated by his bitter wife Catherine (Yolande Moreau, “The Long Falling” [COLCOA 2011], “Louise-Michel” [COLCOA 2009], “Séraphine” [COLCOA 2008]), he embarks on a life-changing adventure to find the missing paystubs. As he roams the countryside on his motorcycle, visiting old relatives and places where he used to live and work, he befriends his wacky young niece Solange (Miss Ming) and is haunted by apparitions of his lost love Yasmine (Isabelle Adjani, “Queen Margot,” “Camille Claudel,” “Subway”), who died in a motorcycle accident.

THE LONG FALLING
Based on the eponymous novel by Keith Ridgway, THE LONG FALLING stars award-winning actress Yolande Moreau (“Micmacs,” “Séraphine” [COLCOA 2008], “When the Sea Rises”) as Rose, a battered woman turned murderer. A woman in her fifties, Rose has been married to an alcoholic, abusive husband for thirty long years. One day, she decides that enough is enough and kills him. Both relieved and disoriented, Rose goes to visit her estranged son Thomas in Brussels, hoping to find some affection. Unaware of what his mother has done and still scarred by a childhood spent with an abusive father, Thomas is unable to give her the comfort that she needs. When the police start suspecting Rose, Thomas is conflicted and asks his mother to leave. Alone and with no place to go, Rose finds herself on the run from the law.

THE SLEEPING BEAUTY
After revisiting “Blue Beard” in 2009, Catherine Breillat returns with THE SLEEPING BEAUTY, a provocative, feminist take on “The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood”, written by Charles Perrault, and “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen. Cursed at birth by the wicked Carabosse, princess Anastasia (newcomer Carla Besnaïnou) is saved from death by three fairies, who put her to sleep for 100 years. Filmed by award-winning cinematographer Denis Lenoir (“Carlos,” “Angel”), THE SLEEPING BEAUTY follows Anastasia’s coming of age journey and search for love, through a series of oneiric visions exploring the magic and terror of childhood, and the complex world of female sexuality. Acclaimed by critics worldwide, the film opened the Orizzonti sidebar of the 2010 Venice Mostra and will be released in the U.S. later this year.
