Louise (Sophie Marceau, Braveheart, The World is Not Enough) escapes to London where she joins the British secret service. She recruits a team of women from all walks of life: a prostitute (Julie Depardieu, Blame It on Fidel, A Very Long Engagement), a chemist (Déborah François, The Page Turner, The Child) and a cabaret dancer (Marie Gillain, On Guard (COLCOA 1998), Safe Conduct (COLCOA 2002)). They are sent to Paris on a suicidal mission to kill a high-ranking Nazi officer who knows too much about D-Day. JEAN-PAUL SALOME Jean-Paul Salomé studied cinema at the Sorbonne and started his writer/director career with two comedies, Girls With Guns and the successful road-movie Restons Groupés. After two ambitious projects, Belphégor, Phantom of the Louvre, also starring Sophie Marceau, and Arsène Lupin (COLCOA 2005) an adaptation of the famous French literary character starring Romain Duris, Salomé gathers a team of award-winning actresses for his first historical epic drama Female Agents, released in France early March. PRESS ...as a popular tribute to the tenacity and bravery of these often unsung Resistance heroines, pic deserves its fair share of salutes....WWII flavor is handsomely captured, combining richly textured studio shooting with location work (including real Paris boulevards draped in swastikas)...(Variety) Inspired by the true stories of women who were actively a part of the Resistance during the Second World War, this film highlights facts that are still unrecognized. (Elle) Next to sexy sharpshooter Marceau, Julie Depardieu, the queen of colorful supporting roles, and above all the delicious Marie Gillain as a fearful hedonist, pleasantly bring to life these little cousins of Lucie Aubrac, improvised warriors and daredevils. (Télérama) Followed by a Q&A with co-writer/director Jean-Paul Salomé |
