Vincent Lindon (The School of Flesh, Betty Blue) and Emmanuelle Devos (Read My Lips, Kings & Queen) form an unlikely couple in this first feature by actress Anne Le Ny (My Best Friend, The Taste of Others). Both dealing with a significant other suffering from cancer, they meet at the hospital and start seeing each other before and after visiting their loved one. The tenuous relationship borne out of these brief encounters quickly torments them, yet gives them a way to cope with their pain and most importantly, a way to feel alive.

ANNE LE NY

As an actress, Anne Le Ny has appeared in various television series and feature films, working with writer/directors as diverse as Agnès Jaoui (The Taste of Others), Patrice Leconte (My Best Friend) or Claude Miller (Little Lili). With her critically acclaimed and Cesar nominated first feature Those Who Remain, she successfully transitions to writing and directing. In 2008, she also wrote Didine, directed by Vincent Dietschy.

PRESS

“Character actress Anne Le Ny makes a haunting scripting-helming debut with "Those Who Remain”. (...) Down-to-earth, utterly believable venture explores commitment, fortitude and the eternal scramble to be true to one's feelings without being unfair to others.” (Variety)

“This exquisitely observed psychological drama reunites Vincent Lindon and Emmanuelle Devos, who starred as a married couple in “La Moustache”... Set mostly in a hospital where their partners, whom we never see, are being treated for cancer, the film captures the deepening connection between two desperately anxious people... (The New York Times)

“Strangely optimistic, often funny, and always spot-on, Those Who Remain is admirably served by two great actors, who inhabit more than they interpret [their role] and generate emotion without effort.” (Elle)
